Financial Matters For Startups introduces financial planning for startup small businesses. 

This workshop will review the following concepts:

  • The importance of financial planning for a small business
  • Building a financial model, including start-up costs, ongoing operations expenses and sources of revenue
  • Key financial concepts as they relate to your business
  • Financial statements commonly used in business operations.

Advance registration is requested as space is limited.

Gary serves as a mentor for SCORE Philadelphia and as a leader for SCORE workshops.  In addition, he is an at-large member of the chapter leadership team and committee member.

Gary brings more than 30 years of accounting, finance, marketing and general management experience to the chapter.  Following graduation, he joined the international accounting firm, Deloitte, where he served public company and municipal clients on audit and consulting engagements.  Subsequently, Gary began a successful 28-year career in the specialty chemicals industry with Rohm and Haas Company and Dow Chemical, holding executive positions as CFO of the Chemicals Business Group and later as Global Business Director for Packaging Adhesives within the Dow Advanced Materials division.  He has extensive experience in international and multi-cultural business environments. For six years, he lived and worked in Asia and led significant business restructuring and growth initiatives.

Gary holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in Economics from Rutgers College.  He currently sits on the board of The Philadelphia Children’s Alliance, serving as Board Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee.
